Faster Project (Northern Ireland and Ireland) 

In December 2023 we completed one of Irelands largest, Government Funded, EV infrastructure rollouts, The FASTER Project. The €6.4 million European Union funding from the INTERREG VA programme which was 2 years in planning. The project partnership was to complete the roll out and installation of 75 rapid (50KW capacity) electric vehicle charging stations across Scotland, Northern Ireland & Republic of Ireland before the target deadline of 31st November 2023.  

M&M Contractors were appointed as the sole contractor and partner for choice for both Weev and EasyGo which meant that were the sole delivery partner for both the Northern Ireland & Republic of Ireland. This involved our company delivering No.41 High Powered Chargers in 10 weeks, across two regions, two different currencies, two different Electric Companies (NIE/ESB) and over 11 different council areas.  

Jack Chambers TD, Minister of State at the Departments of Transport and of Environment, Climate and Communications in Ireland, said: “With special thanks to M&M Contractors, without their team being on the ground, physically delivering the project, this would not be possible.” 

Below, we have provided No.2 examples of our project/works for Faster Project: 

Project: Faster Project (Ireland) 

Location: Across the border region 

Duration: 10 weeks

Description: Full design, planning, construction & installation of 14 No. 50-150kW Rapid Chargers including bollards, bay painting, line markings with all new ESB Connections. 

Project: Faster Project (Northern Ireland) 

Location: Across the province 

Duration: 10 weeks

Description: Full design, planning, construction & installation of 26 No. 50-150kW Rapid Chargers including bay marking and connections to existing circuits with behind the metre connections. 

Additional Comments: With our expert knowledge, we were able to advise on delivering more chargers than originally agreed to maximise and utilise the locations in which the chargers were placed.  With budget available M&M also delivered 6 reserve sites including a 180kw charger at the Grove Wellbeing Centre.
